The Best Roulette Tips
And Essential Strategies Explained

Description: Roulette is a classic casino game that is both fun and easy to learn. Read on for tips and strategies that will gain you even greater chances to win big.

Known for being a fun and exciting “game of pure chance”, roulette, with its trademark wheel and pinball, for many, has come to symbolise what casinos and gambling are all about.

It is essentially a game for “everyone”, and, by design, very easy to learn, with no strategy or skill needed or involved in the physical action of the ball or the wheel. This is all handled by a croupier, and the strategy therefore comes with betting, knowing the odds, and also factors like the house edge.

European Vs American Tables

One of the first things to be aware of is the existence of the European and American variants of roulette.

American roulette, found most commonly in places like Las Vegas, is distinguished by its extra 0 on the wheel, and consequently has a much higher house edge.

The European table, with only one 0, and so roughly half as less house edge, is therefore generally the preferred variant historically and around the world, affording players far better odds and chances to win.

The House Edge

Put simply, “house edge” is essentially the inbuilt advantage that all casino games, and therefore the casinos themselves, have over players in terms of loss over time. In other words, the higher the house edge, the higher your potential for loss will inevitably be, and vice versa.

Basic Betting Strategies

Sticking To the Outside – A common and simple betting strategy involving betting on only two sectors at a time, e.g. “red & high”, “high & odd”, or “odd & high”, and avoiding complex combined bets. This potentially allows for the highest hit rate, although with low profit chances.

The Standard Systems – Over time, many famous methods and systems have been invented, claiming to give players a substantial advantage. The most notable and famous examples are the Martingale, Fibonacci, and D’Alembert systems. Be careful though, no system, including those advertised on the internet, has been proven to definitively work.

Responsible Money Management

One of the most understated basic strategies in all gambling is learning to responsibly manage your betting and finances. This is key to not only establishing good discipline and healthy betting habits, but, when consistent and diligent, can even prevent loss, which, in the long run, will translate to winning more.

The simplest way of doing this is to first establish a strict budget with a loss-limit. The hard part though is sticking to it. Another important aspect is the frequency of play. Due to house edge, the longer one spends on a game and the more one bets, the more it will take effect. Pacing ones online betting and frequency of play can therefore help to keep it at a reasonable level.

Some General Tips
  • Every table will usually have minimum bet, though sometimes the inside and outside bets will be different.

  • Spreading out bets can potentially win more, or at least secure a return, but they can also be a quick way of eating through your money. If you are a beginner, perhaps try avoiding them at the start and rather stick to the single bets.
