Get More Out Of Blackjack With Betting Strategy

Blackjack Betting Strategy

Blackjack is the most famous card game offered by casinos. Nowadays you can play online and at mobile casinos, either for real money or just for fun.

The basics of Blackjack are simple: trying to beat the dealer by scoring as close to 21 as possible without busting. If you want to play Blackjack profitably, however, you need to play with some sort of strategy.

Play For Fun

A quick search online will take you to several sites that teach you how to develop serious Blackjack strategies. If you are planning to be a professional gambler, you may want to spend months studying this advice in detail.

However, even though Blackjack is known as the one casino game in which the odds can be tilted in favour of the player, the only way to do that is by learning how to count cards. That’s an arduous but not impossible task…

But then, consider that card-counting only works in Blackjack played with shoes that contain manually shuffled multiple decks of cards. Modern auto-shuffling Blackjack shoes render the skill useless, and they are now standard in most casinos.

So, to enjoy Blackjack and occasional windfalls to the full, only play for fun, wagering small sums of money you can afford to lose. That way, every win is a delightful surprise.

The Martingale Strategy

Players who want to win more often at live betting usually adopt a betting strategy. The Martingale, a system also used by Roulette payers, is popular. It is simple: you place the same minimum bet on each Blackjack hand as long as you are winning, but after a loss, you immediately double your bet.

This strategy aims to win back the previous loss, and the lost profit from it. If your second bet wins, well and good; you can go back to your base betting amount. If you lose two hands in a row, however, you need to double your bet again: then keep doubling it after every loss, until you get a win.

The Manhattan, Or 2-1-2

The Manhattan strategy is also simple: start with a two-unit bet. If it wins, reduce the next bet to one unit. If you win again, make the next bet three units. Every time you lose, you start again with your two-unit bet. The strategy gets its name from the rising and falling of the bets, which supposedly resembles the New York skyline.

The object of this strategy is to bet less of your own money, but then play big after wins, on the principle that you are at that point playing “with the casino’s money”. Like the Martingale, the Manhattan is theoretically a foolproof system in the long run: provided you have an unlimited bankroll and the casino has no table limits.

Since this is never the case, trusting a system and betting blindly usually ends when you run out of money, or you hit the maximum bet allowed at the table. Playing for fun with regular, small bets, and trusting your luck, remains the most effective Blackjack strategy.

Play Safely

As always play safely and be aware of the limits you set yourself. Any betting strategies come with risks and you should read and research them before attempting any of them.
