How Well Do You Know the Ashes? |
|
|
|
Australia are looking to win
back the Ashes urn that they lost to England back in the 2015 series and are
hoping that playing at home will secure them their 33rd Ashes series win. A win
for Australia will once again see them take the lead in overall Ashes wins, as
both national teams have managed to win the series 32 times.
The
Australia v England odds for a
bet on cricket
suggest that an Australia win is likely and that is after the surprising
announcement of the Australia squad, which in many eyes was surprisingly weak.
The weight of expectation on the Aussies could play into the hands of the
England team, who will be playing without any pressure. Australian selectors
will be hoping their selections pay off and that the players can handle the
favourites tag.
Joe Root, who was player of the series for England back
in 2015 has been promoted to captain after being vice-captain to Alastair Cook
in the previous series. Cook has also been selected for the Ashes and will be
hopeful of using his experience to retain the urn when they travel down
under.
Australia meanwhile will be hoping to break down the mental
strength of the English as they did back in 2013/14 series where they managed
to secure a 5-0 whitewash. With the inexperienced squad England have selected,
another whitewash is looking more likely than usual and England fans are
already expecting the worst.
Although most people, including former
international cricketers believe that Australia will storm to victory, Michael
Vaughan, former England captain, believes that England do have a chance when
the series kicks off on the 23rd November, but they need to employ the correct
tactics in order to do so.
