Thousands of betting shops around the UK are set to reopen their doors to punters again. These shops are set to reopen on Monday, just in time for the action packed sporting week, headlined by the return of the EPL and 5 days of incredible racing at the Royal Ascot.

Betting shops in the United Kingdom which were shut since March 20 due to the corona virus pandemic are set to reopen with series of strict health safety measures such as protective and social distance measures including restrictions on customers, sneeze screens and provision of nose masks.

The shops opening is timely for the Royal Ascot which commences on Tuesday and the return of the English Premier League on Wednesday.

Showing excitement about the information to reopen, Ladbrokes Coral PR director, Simon Clare, stated: “We first thought that we will only be allowed to open a small fraction of our shops, but with the big news that we can open all our shops, we are excited.

“We have put in place all the safety measures rolled out by the government and we have been able to witness firsthand the methods used by the big supermarkets to ensure maximum hygiene. The government also has a clear roadmap on how to ensure the safety of our staff and customers. We have gotten all the necessary health safety gears and have given all our staffs the requisite training to unsure that everything works perfectly.

“We are happy to hear the good news that the English Premier League and the Royal Ascot returns this week. There are quite a large number of bettors asking for the exact time when the shops will be open to place their bets on the races – many bettors have transferred money into their sports betting accounts, but there is still a substantial number of bettors who haven’t credited their account and don’t even plan to. But, the important fact is that we can once again be at the service of our customers.

In the same vein, the retail managing director of William Hill UK, Nicola Frampton, said: “We take the wellbeing and safety of our staff and customers as very paramount. The health safety of our customers are very important to us, that’s why we decided to be very thorough in ensuring that our environment and premises is safe for all.

“Our entire retail team has impressed during these trying periods and I am very proud of them all. The innovative and collaborative approach of our teams in ensuring that our retail business is back to its feet, and running as if nothing has happened in the last few months is commendable and they deserve accolades.

According to Paddy Power spokesman, Paul Binfield, all the Paddy Power shops in England will be open for business. “We are eager to welcome our customers back to action and our concentration is placed on the safety of both colleagues and customers.

“We’ve put out very strict measures in accordance with the guidelines provided by the government, including the successful management of the number of customers visiting our shops daily and at a time, protective screens, nose masks, social distancing and other safety measures.

The spokesperson for the Betfred shops has also stated that all the Betfred shops in England will be open on Monday. “We are looking forward to the reopening of all our betting shops on Monday. We will open all our betting shops with priority on the safety and health of our entire customers and staff.”

One of the largest independent bookmakers in England, Chisholm bookmakers are also set to open 34 out of their 36 betting shops – one of the shops remain closed because of staff shortage and the other shop is closed due to flooding.

Howard Chisholm, the managing director of the Bookmaker’s is happy about the reopening and is looking forward to welcoming his customers. He is expecting close to 70% of his customers to return back to his shops in the very first week.

“It has been a very tight schedule but we can’t wait to get back to work on Monday. We will be excited to have close to 70% of our usual customers. We might not have up to the full capacity until the end of the year. There are many unknowns, so we are unsure of what the future holds, but what we do know is that there are plenty of knocks on our doors, people are gearing up to return to betting.
