Late Night Poker gets three more series
The new series is currently being shot in Cardiff with an improved line-up of strong players from Britain and the rest of the world. There will be the usual 49 players trying to qualify for the eight strong final through 7 heats and a best losers round. The shows will roll out on TV in October, 2001.

Great news for players and viewers alike is the increased prize funding. Players are still putting up £1500 of their own money but there's now an added £26,500 to bring the pool to £100,000. First prize is now £50,000.

More importantly for poker lovers in Britain is the news that Channel 4 have commissioned the production team to complete 3 more complete series of the show. That would see fresh shows on TV into October 2002.

A new commentary team has been arranged. Once again we will hear from the colourful and rich voiced American Jesse May, author of Shut Up and Deal. This time however he will be joined by the Midlands only professional lady player, Lucy Rokach. It is the first change to the commentary in the four series history.

This new 4th series has been blessed with a stronger line-up of professionals and real tuff cookies. The main characters of British TV poker are back :
Dave Ulliott (UK) - 1st series winner and very successful tournament player
Simon Trumper (UK) - 2nd series winner and very recent winner of £40,000 first prize in Vienna
Phil Hellmuth (USA) - 3rd series winner, defending champ. and 1989 World Champion
John Duthie (UK) - Poker Million 2000 winner

Defending :

These top players have been joined by other new strength, a total of 16 new faces in all with 33 of the last series returning. Channel 4, the commissioners of the series are known to have wanted a new line-up.

Appearing for the first time is long time pro, Don O'Dea, an Irish Londoner who stands at the front of the queue of Pokers' winners in Britain. The Don was 6th in WSOP in 1983, the first non-American in the top ten.

Also ; Marcel Luske (NL), poker club owner in Amsterdam; Bruno Fitoussi (FR), poker club manager in Paris; Steve Liu (Newcastle), up-and-coming British player; Brenda Hutt (Luton), strong lady player; Viki Lincoln (London), new lady player; Robert Cohen (France), journeyman tournament player and of course Jon Shorman (UK) will return once again to represent European-Poker.com.
