Ireland the place in
May
CelebPoker will be making their first visit to Ireland
following successful high-profile events in Brighton, Birmingham and London
when the Merrion Casino will stage a 500 No Limit Holdem
tournament restricted to 200 players and boasting a 100,000 prize-pool on
May 13th/14th.
Rogue Trader Nick Leeson and former Liverpool soccer star
Jan Molby are the early confirmed celebs.
Meanwhile,
described as more sought after than a golden ticket to Willy Wonkas
Chocolate Factory a coveted entry ticket to the Ladbrokes Poker Million
will be up for grabs in Cork also on May 13th.
This year Europes
biggest tournament [The Poker Million] will offer $4,120,000 in prize-money,
yes that is $4 million and, with $1 million of that massive purse added by the
sponsors, demand for a place amongst the 72 contestants is
overwhelming.
However, Corks Macau Casino and Card Club, one of
the biggest and fastest growing in Europe, will be sending a lucky player to
the $1.2 million to-the-winner event.
For a 330 entry fee, their
players will have a chance to make the televised stages of the Ladbrokes Poker
Million and a chance to change their life forever.
Ken Corkery, manager
at the plush Macau Casino commented: We are delighted to be staging a
qualifier for the Ladbrokes Poker Million and to give our players a shot at
going to the very top in one of the worlds most famous poker
tournaments. |

Big screen next for WPT
The World Poker Tour will
get its first Hollywood close-up with a starring role in the upcoming film
called Deal.
WPT hosts Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten and
Courtney Friel will be playing themselves in the film alongside the films
stars Burt Reynolds and Bret Harrison.
Deal, directed by Gil
Cates Jr., can be characterized as The Colour of Money meets the
poker world. It tells the story of an ex-gambler played by Reynolds, who
teaches a hot-shot college student how to play the player, instead
of just the cards.
The film concludes at the WPT World Championship and
those scenes were filmed immediately after Aprils real life
$25,000 entry event.
Veteran actor Charles Durning is also a part of the
cast, along with poker aficionado Shannon Elizabeth and WPT faces Phil
The Unabomber Laak and Antonio The Magician
Esfandiari.
Celeb
Tindall lands Charity Invitational.
IMike Tindall, a key member of
Englands World Cup winning Rugby squad, was the winner of the Roy
The Boy Charity Invitational Poker Tournament played at
Ladbrokespoker.com.
Amongst the leaders from the outset, Tindall (alias
JYD) ultimately got the better of fellow rugby pro Neil Clarke (whirlwind100)
in a short heads-up battle.
The third placed finisher was former
Eastenders actor Michael Greco (monkey36) with jockey Darren Williams (spigot)
taking fourth.
The final table also included actors Chloe Bale
(ravenmaiden) whose latest film London to Brighton is about to be released,
Adrian Bower (sheikubute) from the TV series Teachers and comedian Norma Pace
(spineynorman).
Mike Tindall elected to donate part of his winnings to
the Parkinsons Disease Society, Neil Clarke, Darren Williams and eleventh
placed Roy Fowler all supported Cancer Research while Michael Greco will be
sending on a cheque to Childline. Other charities to benefit will include the
Naomi House Childrens Hospice Fund the Meningitis Research Foundation and
Amnesty.
Both Mike Tindall and Neil Clarke were soon back in action as
they also won their place in the Poker Million Weekly Final but, on this
occasion, they failed to net the prize.
