One of the biggest betting events across the sporting calendar is just months away and many people will be wondering who to bet on at the Grand National? Several clues can be taken throughout the season with many horses stating their claims. Unfortunately last year’s victor One for Arthur will not be back to defend his crown due to injury. At the initial entry stage there is 105 horses looking to contest the famous race and of course to take home some of the now £1 million prize money.

When looking to have a bet on the race it is important to follow the trends of previous winners in order to narrow down the field. One of the most important factors is Age with horses between the ages of 9 and 11 having the most success. This is shown in the fact that 10 of the last 11 winners enter this bracket. Also top weight has always been a vital factor to a horses defeat and you have to go back to the greatest National horse in Red Rum to have been successful under this burden. Check out the infographic below to help you find the National winner and what the key attributes to look for in a horse are for success in the World’s most famous race.
